World’s Most Over-The-Top Hotel Amenities

For those eager to experience renaissance in luxe hotel services — or simply get pampered in a creative, new way — here’s a menu of perks and amenities available around the world.

Fragrance Butler, Rosewood Hotels, North America and Saudi Arabia

Rosewood Hotels recently announced it would provide a dedicated fragrance butler in each of its North American and Saudi Arabian properties. The butler arrives to guests’ suites with a fragrance menu tailored to the hotel.

Soap Concierge, Viceroy Riviera Maya, Mexico

Whether guests need relaxation or invigoration after a long day of travel, there’s a soap to fit the bill at the recently renovated and renamed Viceroy (formerly the Tides). Upon arrival, the property’s soap concierge will come by to offer a variety of artisanal cleansing options, created by hand in nearby Mayan communities using organic ingredients.

Pet Psychic, Hotel Monaco, Portland

Hotel Monaco is perhaps the only one with a pet psychic on staff. The psychic works with animals and their owners during a complimentary wine hour to solve behavioral issues and improve relationships.

Lingerie Delivery, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas

For visitors in need of new — or more exciting — lingerie, the Hard Rock Hotel offers all manner of unmentionables at Love Jones, their in-house boutique. The boutique has a room-service menu, open 24 hours, with items like the Peek-a-Book Bra, Good Girl/Bad Girl Blindfold and a Sexy Scenario Kit.

Plastic Surgery Recovery, The Pierre, New York City

Men and women come from all over the world to get “enhanced” on Manhattan’s Upper East Side — which is why luxury properties such as The Pierre offer a quiet (and discrete) place to convalesce afterward. The hotel works in partnership with New York-Presbyterian plastic surgeon-in-chief Robert Grant, M.D., offering a package that includes car service to and from the procedure, a private escort, someone to organize billing and registration before arrival, in-room spa treatments and a specialty menu designed by a nutritionist to encourage healing. Both Grant and a house doctor are on call 24 hours a day.

Road Trip Tips

Embarking on a fun filled vacation is always exciting, especially if you are travelling by car. Road trips are a superb way to bond with the other people you are travelling with. Although, this method of transportation can sometimes provide more headaches thank any other. Stopping for car service in Chicago, or repairing a flat tire in Panama are the last things you want to do when you are trying to relax and have fun.

So, to prevent these types of issues from plaguing your next road trip take some time before you leave to thoroughly inspect your car. By taking just a few preliminary precautions before you hit the road you can save yourself loads of trouble. Because let’s face it, who really wants to worry about anything while they are on vacation, besides having a good time?

Here is a small checklist of things to look at before you take your trip:

  • Take a peek at your owner’s manual: Your owner’s manual contains all the information about your car. Taking the time to look this book over will teach you basics such as how to use your overdrive when towing a trailer, or how to change your tire and where the jack is located. This manual can also tell you what your proper tire pressure should be and how to change a headlight bulb. Gaining this knowledge before you leave will help you know what needs to be done prior to leaving, and may also help quicken solutions to any problems that may occur along the way.
  • Look under your hood: This is obviously the place where you need to be most conscientious. An extremely common cause of car trouble is an overdue oil change. So, make sure you are up to date on yours, and if not be sure to get one before you leave. Also, checking your automatic transition fluid is very important. You will surely be loading up your car with heavy luggage and possibly a trailer (depending on your trip), which will be a test for your transmission; so be sure to take care of this fluid before the trip. Another important aspect of your engine to check is your engine coolant, or antifreeze. Be sure that your coolant level is adequate because a lack of fluid can cause your engine to overheat which could result in serious damage for your car. You should also visually check your battery and look for any acid leaks, cracks, or other damage. If you notice any of these things replace your battery before you leave.
  • Lights and other electrical equipment: While your engine is important, other parts of your car require examination as well. Be sure to check your horn, wipers, and all lights. It may be wise to pack a few extra bulbs just in case any of them should go out while you are away.

Taking these kinds of precautions is not only for your own peace of mind, but for the safety of all other drivers you encounter along the road. If you have a light or a blinker out that will surely endanger your fellow drivers because they cannot be fully aware of what you are doing or where you are going. Therefore, not only will doing these tasks help you have a smoother trip, but they may in fact save a life.
